August 2002 In August and
September 2002 we had the privilege of visiting this vast and
beautiful land. During the first 4 days we were guests of Lou en
Mies and the occasional tear was brushed away during the gratifying
re-acquaintance. Mies, Lou and also Lennard and Mimsy arranged
sightseeing, BBQ's, meals out and an
excellent hotel with a lovely
swimming pool. We followed this on with a 7 day cruise to Glacier Bay in Alaska and
the Misty Fjords with everything included. A real party and a banquet and during
the day enjoying the nature and landing places. This sort of photo makes you realise that being able to experience this
you definitely belong to a privileged group of people.
This is what we came for: two sisters, who for so long, have had to be
satisfied with minimal communication are at last together. On this terrace, at Lennard
and Mimsy's, we met Richard and Diana, who were travelling around
the country in a sailing boat.
There was so much goodwill at Lennard and Mimsy's that time stood still.
The assets of Larry and Miriam. The car on the drive of their castle
Henny and Jason (Miriam's son) on the terrace at the back of Miriam's house.
We also met Shawn and Sylvia and their children here.
Another picture of Miriam's house. She lives here, in a beautiful newly built
suburb, with her children Christina and Diana. A look in the kitchen (but don't look under the lids of the pans!) at Miriam's with
Shawn and Sylvia's daughter Alisha (right).
The BBQ at Miriam's (with her back towards you) with fresh wild salmon and
Jason kept busy fetching everything.
Mies and Lou took us with them to Holley and Peter's castle. We met their
two children Jaclyn en Olivia.
The same house but seen from the rear. On the right is Peter's office that he
brought with him by road, from their previous house. This is quite normal in Canada
and cheaper than building a new office. The house looks out onto a forest from which
bears are unwelcome visitors in the winter.
We said our good byes to Lou and Mies with a sumptuous meal. Once again many
thanks for the wonderful reception and the fantastic stay!
The day after the Cruise, Miriam took us to Capalino Park with its 350 ft long
suspension bridge and century old giants of the forest.
This is the end of the many short impressions of our relations in Canada.
They stole our hearts! |
